Now that the weather is warming up and many families are thinking about beach locations, pool-sides and water parks for the holidays, I thought I would post a tiny review about one of the water carriers available. I’m so glad I thought to buy one from Our Eco Babies in the rush to pack up the car and organise the animals to get fed I nearly forgot……..I’m sure you can relate.
So I purchased a beautiful ‘Beachfront Baby’ water carrier, the lime green ring sling. I used it for my 22month old toddler, who is about 12kgs. The max weight rating on these is 13.6kg and I didn’t at all feel like the ring sling was being stretched to its limits.
Of course you can imagine with two very excited little kidlets bursting out of the car the moment we arrive, it wasn’t long before the ring sling got its first trial in the water. I have to say I was very impressed! The fabric is stretchy enough to mould around me and baby, making it super comfy. But yet not too stretchy and I still felt like it was very supportive. Another great feature is the gathered shoulder. This style is the most adjustable and fits anyone’s shoulder. The sling is also wide enough to still have the fabric right up to my toddlers neck, and he was loving it too!
The first few minutes in the water he wanted to stay close to mum and suss out the environment before venturing out on his own. This also made it a fantastic advantage as I also had a very excited 4 year old who was jumping and splashing, and having a great time so I could have enough hands to keep them both safe and close.
I wore my toddler for the walk to the pool before getting in the water with him, I also found that the ring sling was still very strong and supportive out of the water. The ring sling is made using small rings which helped the fabric not to slip back through the rings at all. I have had a few mums ask about whether you can wear a water carrier out of the water and after using it, my recommendation would be that if you wanted to walk to the beach and walk home using this particular brand water carrier, then I would be confident it would be supportive enough to do so.
All in all, I would say this sling will definitely get a work out during our beach holiday! I also loved using the tail to cover my mummy tummy which of course is an added advantage, hehe. The only downside I see is the extremely hard choice between ring sling or wrap and then to pick a colour………I want them all!
Stay tuned for my next review on another great summer option from Our Eco Babies.
