Sitting outside HAS to help! Aside from the vitamin D rich sunshine, the fresh air, warmth and earthing with my bare feet resting on the ground, watching my boys run freely, chasing each other and giggling as they fall in a heap on the freshly cut grass (yep I did that myself yesterday evening, go me!) has got to produce some happy endorphins that will ease these insidious menstrual cramps I have been getting since my fertility returned after baby number 2. As I understand, exercise can be a good way to ease menstrual cramps (as is orgasms one of my dear friends tells me!!!) so I probably should be up running around with the boys but I can’t quite muster up the energy for that.
Once the boys tire of chasey I’m going to pop on a DVD for them and make myself up some “tummy rub”, and pamper my belly with a massage and a hot water bottle. Maybe the simple act of self-care will help as well. I’ve had a quick read on Magic Earth Mumma page this morning and picked out some Essential Oils from my medicine cupboard, to blend.
Inexpensive nourishing carrier oil – I’ve just got to heat it a little to soften it as it’s pretty chilly in my pantry this time of year
*Calming and balancing, relieves mood swing associate with menstrual symptoms
*Analgesic (pain relieving), antispasmodic (relieves muscular spasms) – thanks MEM for simplifying those technical terms for me on a day my brain is barely at half speed
*Treatment for depression and apathy – So I’m not depressed per se but apathy is a good way to describe my un-spirited mood and dreary demeanor today!
Once my oil is ready, my hot water bottle filled, I will use the remainder of the hot water in the kettle to make a tea. Planet Organics PMTea with its Chaste Tree Berry nourishes the pituitary gland often improving PMT symptoms. I need this!
And if none of this makes me feel better, the fruit and nut chocolate I prepared earlier will cheer me up no doubt. ~ Cocao butter and cocoa powder, rice malt syrup, vanilla, cashews, sunflower seeds and raisins ~
Full of iron and magnesium, bound to be a positive support for any menstruating woman! (a Chocolate recipe here)
Hugs to any other mummas feeling less than optimal today!
